BECKHAM: THE THREE LIONS STORY
On This Day In 2008, 32-year old David Robert Joseph Beckham earned his 100th cap for the England national team when he started in a 1-0 friendly loss to France at Stade de France. Franck Ribery’s 32nd-minute penalty was all “Les Bleus” needed to seal the game. With this, Beckham who was substituted in the 63rd minute for David Bentley became the fifth Englishman to win 100 caps. With 17 goals in 115 caps(1996-2009), Beckham is England’s third most capped player after Wayne Rooney and Peter Shilton. He represented England at several tournaments, including the 1998, 2002 and 2006 World Cups. He also captained the Three Lions for six years(2000-2006).
