Sven Bender of Bayer Leverkusen

Born in Rosenheim, West Germany, he played for the youth team of TSV Brannenburg from 1993 to 1999. From 1999 to 2002 he was part of SpVgg Unterhaching youth team. In summer 2002, he moved to the 1860 München youth academy.

He made his professional debut for 1860 München in 2006, going on to score once in 70 games. In 2009, München had to sell both him and his twin brother Lars, due to the club’s financial problem. He moved to Borussia Dortmund and while his brother to joined Bayer Leverkusen.

He represented Borussia Dortmund between 2009 to 2017, netting 4 times in 224 games. He also won six trophies during his time with the club and was a member of Die Borussen squad that finished as runners-up at the 2012/2013 UEFA Champions League final.

The Center-back has represented Germany at various youth levels, also earning 7 caps for the senior side.

He currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen.

Lars Bender of Bayer Leverkusen

Born in Rosenheim, West Germany, he played for the youth team of TSV Brannenburg from 1993 to 1999. From 1999 to 2002 he was part of SpVgg Unterhaching youth team. In summer 2002, he moved to the 1860 München youth academy.

Aged 17, he made his professional debut for 1860 München in November 2006. In October 2008, he took over the captaincy and was at 19 the youngest captain in the history of the 1860 München.

He joined Bayer Leverkusen in August 2009 and has since become the club’s captain. Since his arrival at Bay Arena, he has scored 25 goals in 315 games. He also captains the club.

The Right-back has also represented Germany at various youth levels, also netting four times in 19 caps for the senior side.

Lars Bender is 31 today.
