Cavani Manchester United Debut Might Be Delayed
Edinson Cavani might not be available to make his Manchester United debut in the Premier League clash with Newcastle United on October 17. The Uruguay made a shock deadline day transfer to Old Trafford on Monday, and it had been thought that the striker would appear against the Magpies with Anthony Martial serving a suspension after he was sent off in a game against Tottenham on Sunday.
Sportsfold.com understands that the 33-year-old could be forced to wait to turn out for the Red Devils as under government guidelines, anyone arriving in the United Kingdom from France will have to quarantine for 14 days due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The majority of elite athletes are exempt from the rule, but the striker left Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer and has therefore been living with the general public, meaning that he is likely to have to self-isolate at home for the next fortnight, missing the Newcastle clash in the process. Cavani, who has been handed the number seven shirt at Old Trafford yesterday, could therefore make his debut against former club PSG in the Champions League on October 20.
The former Napoli striker tested positive for coronavirus earlier this summer following a trip to Ibiza.
