EARNSHAW: Celebrating a Legend
He was born in the outskirts of the Zambian mining town of Mufulira. After the death of his father in 1990, he(together with his mother and four siblings) moved to Wales in 1991. He joined Cardiff City youth academy in 1997 and made his professional debut for the club in September 1998(vs Millwall). He is the Bluebirds'(a nickname for Cardiff City) third highest goalscorer of all-time with 109 goals in 227 games(1998-2004, 2011-2013).
He also played for the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Derby County, Nottingham Forest, Toronto FC, Chicago Fire and Vancouver White Caps.
Despite being born in Zambia, he chose to represent Wales at international level, going on to score 16 goals in 58 caps(2002-2012)
Notably, the former striker is the only player to have scored a hat-trick in the Premier League, all three divisions of the English Football League, the League Cup, the FA Cup, and for his country in an international match.
He was the assistant manager of United Soccer League club Fresno FC between 2018 to 2019.
