FA CUP MEMORIES: The Tigers vs The Blades

On This Day In 2014, English Premier League club Hull City beat League One side Sheffield United 5-3 in an FA Cup semi-final match. With this, the Tigers reached the FA Cup final for the first time in their history. Prior to the clash at Wembley, Hull had only once previously reached the FA Cup semi-final, where they lost after a replay to Arsenal in 1930. The Blades became the ninth club from outside the top two divisions to reach the last four of the competition. The defeat denied Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough the chance to at least replicate the achievement of his father Brian, who had guided Nottingham Forest to the 1991 FA Cup final, where they were beaten by Tottenham. The Tigers reached the final where they lost to eventual champions Arsenal.
