HAN KWANG-SONG: On This Day In 2017, 18-year-old Cagliari Calcio striker Kwang-song came on as an 81st minute substitute for Marco Sau to score his team’s final goal in a 3-2 home loss to Torino. With, this, he became the first North Korean to score in the Italian Serie A. Han’s 90th minute effort was also his first goal for Rossoblu(a nickname for Cagliari). On 13 April 2017, he signed a contract extension to continue to play for Cagliari until 2022. He was sent on three different loan spells but failed to impress his employers. In all, he scored once in 12 games for the Italian side. Han was sold to Qatari side Al-Duhail in January 2020.
