MATTEO GUENDOUZI: The Next Big Thing
MATTEO GUENDOUZI:Born in Piossy, France, he joined Paris Saint-Germain youth academy in 2005 where he spent 9 years before joining FC Lorient youth academy in 2014. He made his professional debut for the club in October 2016, going on to score no goals in 30 games.
He joined Arsenal in July 2018 and scored the first professional goal of his career on 4 October 2018, rounding off the scoring in Arsenal’s 3–0 away win over Qarabağ FK.
MATTEO GUENDOUZI has represented France at various youth levels. With partial Moroccan heritage, he was approached by Morocco manager Hervé Renard in 2017 to change allegiances to play for the Morocco national team. However, after his father met Renard in March 2017, he decided to remain and pledge allegiance to France. He has earned 11 caps for the France U-21. He was one of the 20 players nominated for the 2019 FIFA Golden Boy award.
