Netherland Government Close Football Till September
Netherland Prime minister Mark Rutte has just announced in national press conference that the country prohibits any sporting event until September 1. That would mean the immediate suspension of the soccer league, among other events. It would be the first country to enact such a drastic measure at the government level.
The country’s stadiums, according to this order from the Dutch leader, will remain closed until September 1, so the 2019/2020 season can be closed. “It’s tough, but it’s like that,” said Rutte.
As it is a government opinion, the Netherland Football Federation will define this Friday whether, in principle, it gives the League to Ajax, current leader and champion. We still have to wait to see how the other pending issues are solved: Champions, descents … Many unknowns in the air.
The announcement of the Executive thus collides head-on with the calendar of the Royal Dutch Football Federation, which had recommended the clubs return with individual training on May 15, in small groups a week later and the entire squad from May 29 . According to that plan, now paralyzed, the Eredivisie matches would have been played between June 19 and July 31. The Dutch clubs were divided, as some like Ajax, AZ Alkmaar or PSV Eindhoven had asked for the definitive cancellation of the competition, while others with financial difficulties preferred to return.
Recall that the main television operator in the Netherlands announced a few days ago that it would pay the TV rights for this season in any case, as will be the case. The money, at least, will be received by the clubs.
The prohibition and suspension extends, of course, to the rest of the leagues of other sports , within the Netherlands, in addition to musical, cultural events, etc …,the Eredivise will write to UEFA to implement league early end, which will gift Ajax the title.
