Born in Lagos, he spent one year(2003-2004) with Gabros International(now known as Ifeanyi Ubah FC) of Nnewi before joining Lobi Stars in 2004. In 2005, at the age of 20, he joined French Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille, going on to score 23 goals in 256 games(2005-2011).

He moved to Italy where he joined AC Milan. The move wasn’t successful as he managed to play 8 games in two seasons with the club. Loan spells to Queens Park Rangers and Dynamo Kyiv proved abortive as he failed to break into Milan’s first-team. He spent two years with Bursaspor where he scored 3 goals in 37 games. He has also represented the likes of HJK Helsinki, FC Lausanne-Sport, AFC Eskilstuna,

He was a member of the Nigeria Flying Eagles squad that finished as runners-up at the 2005 FiFA World Youth Championship. He made his senior international debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in 2004, going on to score 8 goals in 54 caps.

The Left-back currently plays for Finnish top-flight club RoPS Rovaniemi.
