The Last Time At Home

Arsene Wenger during his final home game in charge of  Arsenal

On This Day In 2018, 68-year-old Arsène Charles Ernest Wenger took charge of his 606th and final home game in charge of Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. This came just two weeks after the Frenchman announced that he will step down as the Gunners manager. Burnley, who had a wonderful story of their own that season, were outclassed as the Gunners ran out 5-0 winners to give Wenger his 475th win in 826 Premier League games. Thanks to goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Sead Kolasinac and Alex Iwobi. The Frenchman who received a gift from former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson seven days earlier, was also given a standing ovation before the game and was gifted the gold mini-replica Premier League trophy he won during the 2003-2004 Invincibles season as a departing gift from Arsenal.
