Antoine Griezmann’s 82nd minute equaliser cancelled out Alexandre Lacazette’s 61st minute opener Atletico Right-back Sime Vrsaljko received both the fastest yellow card (first 1:15, second 9:09) in the Europa League that season. Prior to his sending off, the Croatian international had picked up seven bookings in 25 previous appearances for Atletico that season. This was the third time Arsene Wenger had lost a European final with Arsenal. It was also his final home European game. Los Rojiblancos went on to win the tournament after beating Olympique Marseille in the final.
